FAQs

What kind of commitment is required when hiring a personal trainer?

At New Life Fitness, the commitment depends on your goals, schedule and budget. I generally recommend 3 to 4 sessions per week, with at least 1 being in-person (or virtual). If you prefer to workout solo and have a strong history in weight lifting or HIIT, then you can skip the in-person component and just request a personalized plan to follow. You will still benefit from weekly check-ins and have the option to adjust your programming as needed. The goal, in order to see results, is to build consistency and track your progress. There’s no long-term contract requirements unless you choose a monthly or annual plan — it’s about what’s best for you and your schedule.

Why should i hire a personal trainer who specializes in womens-only health and fitness?

Women’s bodies have unique needs — and your training should reflect that. A personal trainer who is specifically educated in women’s health and fitness understands how to support your goals while considering the biological, hormonal and lifestyle factors that affect you.

Women’s hormones fluctuate daily and monthly. A women-focused trainer understands how to adapt training to support your energy, recovery, and results through cycles, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and beyond. Women also benefit from resistance training in different ways than men — especially for bone density, joint health, and metabolic support. Pregnancy, childbirth and daily posture affect your core and pelvic floor. Trainers educated in women’s health often take a more supportive, empowering approach. I want to help you feel confident in your body without pressure to meet unrealistic standards from day one. Hiring a trainer who truly understands women’s bodies means you’re not just working out, but you're training smarter, safer and with confidence.

Why should i invest in a personal trainer when i can purchase a gym membership?

A gym membership gives you access to equipment. A personal trainer gives you a plan, purpose, and results. Many people join a gym with good intentions but feel overwhelmed, unmotivated, or unsure where to start. When you hire a qualified, knowledgeable and compassionate personal trainer, you benefit from their expertise, guidance and education. As your trainer and health advocate, I can not only teach you how to use equipment safely and correctly to avoid injuries and build long-term strength, but guide you to get the most out of your time at the gym with focused, effective workouts.

Whether you're hitting a plateau or just having a tough day, a trainer knows how to keep you going. Plus, it's easier to stay consistent when someone is expecting you, encouraging you, investing in you and tracking your progress.

While a gym membership gives you access. A personal trainer gives you results. If you're serious about reaching your goals, the investment in a trainer turns your time and effort into real, lasting change.

What about AI or youtube?

AI and YouTube are great tools and they can definitely help with general fitness guidance. But a personal trainer offers something those platforms can’t: a tailored plan, real-time form correction, accountability and adaptations based on your progress and goals. There’s so much info online, but the challenge is knowing what actually works for you. A personal trainer helps you skip the guesswork, stay motivated and avoid injury by making sure you’re doing things right. Think of it like the difference between using a recipe online and having a personal chef who understands your dietary needs and cooks just for you.

Do I need to be in shape to start personal training?

Not at all! Whether you're a total beginner or returning to fitness after a break, you're welcome here. Every program is tailored to your current level, goals and comfort.

What if I have injuries, health concerns or I’m pregnant?

Your safety is a top priority. I'll work around any limitations with modifications and exercises that support healing and strength — always with your doctor's clearance if needed.

Do you offer training for weight loss, strength or general health?

Yes! I customize your plan based on what you want to achieve — whether it's fat loss, muscle tone, energy, confidence or all of the above. Every aspect of your individualized plan is backed by science, women’s health and real results. You don’t have to be training for any specific event (marathon, bikini competition, ironman) or vacation to benefit from personal training. Every woman can benefit from a trainer who cares about their total health and well-being in order to improve hormonal balance, bone and joint health, mental health support, injury prevention, and independence and longevity.

I’m nervous about working out in front of others — is this private?

Absolutely. Many women feel overwhelmed, self-conscious and intimidated of where to start in traditional gym settings. You are not alone! Sessions will be 1-on-1 in the comfort of your own home or virtual. You should feel confident when your making positive changes and healthy choices. I come to your home to create a training environment that feels safe, welcoming and encouraging. I provide clear guidance and real support without the judgement or comparison.

How long are the sessions and how often do we meet?

Most sessions are 45–60 minutes. Frequency depends on your goals and schedule — anywhere from 1 to 4 times per week. We’ll find a rhythm that fits your life.

where do we meet for training sessions?

Personal training at home offers a flexible, empowering and stress-free way for women to take control of their fitness. Whether you're balancing a busy schedule, caring for a family or simply prefer privacy, training at home makes wellness more accessible and sustainable. You don’t need to purchase any equipment, but if you choose to invest in a few items, I can guide you through the process so you get the most out of your investment.

I firmly believe that every woman can get real results with nothing more than effort and a pair of sneakers. But if you already have a gym membership, I’m more than happy to meet you there for your workouts (if gym management allows).

what if i don’t live in central iowa?

No problem! With a mileage fee, we can still commit to in-person sessions throughout the week, month or year. However, if you prefer or if distance is a hindrance, I offer completely virtual in-person sessions as well through Zoom.

What should I bring to a session?

That’s simple! Just comfortable workout clothes, water and a positive mindset. I come to you, so there’s no pressure! If anything else is needed, I’ll let you know in advance.

What happens next if i request a free consultation?

Once I receive your request for a free consultation, I will reach out via your preferred contact method. I may send you a quick intake form to have a better understanding of your goals and to make the most of our time together when we meet. From there, if you choose to hire me as your personal trainer, I will dedicate my time to helping you achieve your fitness goals through a customized fitness program, nutritional guidance and constant support.

Is this just for younger women or athletes?

Not at all. I work with women of all ages, body types, and experience levels. There’s a reason I chose to focus primarily on women’s health and fitness. It’s time to change the narrative for women, cut out all the noise and discover that lifelong fitness is for everyone.

What’s your training style like?

Supportive, challenging and focused on progress — not perfection. I’ll cheer you on, help you stay accountable and meet you where you are every step of the way. You will achieve real results that don’t consume all of your time and energy while finding a routine that is sustainable for the long haul.

What if i don’t own any equipment or have a gym membership?

Many of my clients train right from their living rooms, backyards or local parks. Whether we’re working together in-person or virtually, your workouts are designed around your life — not a gym schedule.

Using just your bodyweight (and maybe a few simple tools like bands or dumbbells if you have them), you can build strength, burn fat and feel amazing — all without ever stepping foot in a crowded gym. And when I travel to you, I bring all the equipment you’ll need.

How do I get started? What if i have more questions first?

Easy! Just fill out the free consultation form and I’ll be in touch to talk about your goals and next steps in a no-pressure environment.
